Ste’Refill, pulsed light for responsible beauty
This pulsed-light bottle decontamination module redefines microbiological safety standards in refillable packaging for the cosmetics sector. In just 1 flash of white light and less than 30 seconds, over 99.9% of the most resistant bacteria and molds are killed.
Developed by our design office and microbiological laboratory with L’Occitane for these Fountains in 2021, more than 100 boutiques around the world are now equipped. It enables the bottle to be decontaminated directly in the boutique by the sales advisors in charge of refilling. It’s a strong commitment by the brand to the circular economy and consumer safety.
Refill stations for more sustainable consumption in the cosmetics industry
This approach is part of the measures put in place to support customers in their move towards more responsible consumption, and in particular to get them into the habit of reusing products as soon as the solution is offered.
In 1992, Mugler pioneered the concept with its Angel fragrance and refillable fountain, and has since followed suit. Several cosmetics brands now offer refill stations in specialty stores and pharmacies.
Each brand offers its own bottle-cleaning protocol.
However, while these protocols ensure that the bottle is clean, it is not disinfected and may contain pathogens. Packaging can therefore be a source of contamination, altering product quality and reducing shelf life.
Ste’Refill, the assurance of enhanced microbiological safety for reusable packaging
Ste’Refill is a compact, patented, easy-to-use sterilization module. Intense flashes of light instantly destroy surface microorganisms, ensuring complete disinfection of reusable packaging. Pulsed light is highly effective against all pathogenic and spoiling micro-organisms in cosmetic products, and in particular molds, which are not killed by UV lamps.
The multi-format module adapts to different bottle sizes. To find out more, please contact our team.
What’s more, pulsed light is a surface treatment that respects the integrity of packaging materials, which is all the more essential in this reuse cycle.
Ste’Refill, a guarantee of quality for your brand
Without water or chemicals, Ste’Refill enables instant treatment of the bottle just before filling. Indeed, the bottle previously cleaned by the customer is likely to be contaminated due to unknown storage and transport conditions.
In this way, brands benefit from a fast, effective solution that reassures customers.
