Danone chose Claranor Pulsed Light to protect the quality of “So Delicious” product!
In 2015, Danone North America relied on Claranor’s cup decontamination solution for its So Delicious dairy-free yogurt line, produced in its plant in Dubois, Wyoming. The decision was driven by the need to ensure high levels of product safety and quality, as plant-based yogurts are particularly susceptible to contamination, primarily by mold. A high-performance decontamination process was essential to maintain product shelf life and prevent cross-contamination.
Claranor’s Pulsed Light solution was the ideal solution for Danone. The technology uses high-intensity flashes with a wide spectrum of wavelengths, providing efficient packaging decontamination without the use of water or chemicals.
Achieving High Standards of decontamination
The installation at Danone’s Dubois plant was designed to achieve a 4-log reduction on Aspergillus brasiliensis for two cup formats:
- Ø 95 mm x H 50 mm (Ø 3.74 in x H 1.96 in)
- Ø 108 mm x H 50 mm (Ø 4.25 in x H 1.96 in)
The system, integrated into an Osgood FS filling line, treats 4 cups per cycle with two flashes of pulsed light, ensuring high decontamination standards. The line operates at a speed of 5,400 cups per hour.
Danone’s testimonial
After eight years of operation, the Claranor solution continues to run efficiently, helping Danone maintain the quality of its So Delicious product.
Douglas Schoo, Senior Corporate Engineer at Danone, shared his satisfaction with the system’s performance:
“The Claranor machine has been running on our filling line for 8 years, and we’re happy with its reliability. Non-dairy products are very sensitive, and thanks to Claranor, we are able to maintain the quality of our products with a high level of decontamination. IMS, Claranor’s exclusive distributor in the USA, helps us with general maintenance of the machine, which is highly appreciated.”
